The Scrum Master will help educate the delivery team/squad in Agile methodology and ensure that the agreed principles are adhered to. They will facilitate the Scrum process, remove impediments, and foster an environment for high-performing team dynamics, continuous flow, and relentless improvement. They will assist in ensuring the team is self-organizing and self-managing to achieve its goals by coaching and teaching the right principles and practises. The Scrum Masters may be organised as a pool at the domain level.

 

Key responsibilities

  • Exhibit Lean-Agile Leadership and act as a custodian for the agile process by ensuring all scrum processes are used as intended
  • Lead the team's effort in relentless improvement by fostering a safe, transparent environment, to continually optimise delivery through a practice of inspection and adaptation
  • Act as an enabler for the effective functioning of the team and facilitate the team's progress towards their goals, including facilitating meetings and ceremonies to enable delivery
  • Encourage the identification and removal of impediments that hinder progress, to maximise the efficiency of the team
  • Protect the team against counterproductive stresses that undermine consistent delivery of quality software solutions at a sustainable pace
  • which will support them to deliver at a consistent and sustainable delivery velocity
  • Build high-performing teams by teaching, coaching, and mentoring all team members (internal and external) in the appropriate behaviours and practices, to enable the most efficient delivery of valuable outcomes, encouraging self-management and self-organisation
  • Support the Product Owner to maximise productivity
  • Coordinate and communicate effectively to establish clear lines of communication and accountability between key stakeholders and team members
  • Influence all management levels to consistently enable productive change, aligning to "servant leader" principles, and the appropriate empowerment with accountability
  • Facilitate any events necessary to achieve efficient and effective delivery
  • Establish clear lines of accountability and communications, between key stakeholders and team members

Knowledge/ Experience 

  • Proven experience as a Scrum Master or equivalent for a software development team that followed Agile principles, practices and theory
  • An understanding of various agile frameworks and techniques and experience of applying at least 2 of these
  • Experience being a passionate agent for change in organisations
  • Experience facilitating sessions with a wide range of stakeholders
  • Experience of building genuinely Agile teams in a large-scale enterprise
  • Experience working in a product-centric organisation preferred
  • Strong inter-personal, communication, collaboration and organizational skills
  • A proven track record of successfully coaching team members and key stakeholders to support them in tackling problems with curiosity and a drive to innovate in novel ways
  • Strong understanding of Software Development Lifecycle
